A Yucca Valley woman was one of two people killed in a head-on crash on North Indian Canyon between I-10 and Tramview Road in Palm Springs yesterday. The fatal crash, just before 3:00 Sunday afternoon, closed the road for several hours. Palm Springs police reports a 2003 Acura Integra driven by Derryl Jones, 50, of Desert Hot Springs, was traveling northbound on Indian Canyon when he lost control of the vehicle and crossed into the path of a southbound 2012 Nissan Sentra, driven by Ashley VanBuskirk, 23, of Yucca Valley. VanBuskirk is a 2010 graduate of Yucca Valley High School and a graduate of the Copper Mountain College nursing program. Both Ashley VanBuskirk and Derryl Jones were killed; there were no other occupants in either vehicle at the time of the collision.
