The Yucca Valley Planning Commission acknowledged the importance of alternative energy sources at its meeting Tuesday night, noting that the state has mandated that one-third of its energy be from renewable sources by 2020. The Commission was mixed about whether a minimum lot size should be required for wind turbines, and how many should be allowed on a residential lot. Commissioners all agreed that the decibel level should be regulated, and if a wind turbine could meet the noise requirements, it should be allowed, as long as it met set back requirements and if neighbors’ view-sheds were protected.
