YUCCA VALLEY MAN SENTENCED IN HIT-AND-RUN DEATH OF MOTORCYCLIST

A 70-year-old Yucca Valley man was sentenced Friday in the hit-and-run death of a motorcyclist in Yucca Mesa last year. Ronald Svidergol was sentenced to two years in state prison for the charge of hit-and-run resulting in death, and 364 days in county jail for vehicular manslaughter, with credit for time served of 585 days. Svidergol was driving his pick-up truck westbound on Buena Vista March 3, 2014, when he turned right in front of Jacob Koval, 26, who was riding his motorcycle eastbound. Svidergol fled the scene, and when deputies found Svidergol at his home, he was drunk. Prosecutors were unable to prove whether Svidergol was driving under the influence when he hit and killed Jacob Koval.
