YUCCA VALLEY MAN JAILED TWICE OVER THE WEEKEND

A man who took a cab after being released from jail Sunday morning, was arrested and returned to jail when he refused to pay his cab fare. According to Sheriff reports, Daniel Chavarin, 30, was stopped for speeding about 10:20 Saturday evening near Highway 62 and Elwood Street in Joshua Tree. The deputy determined Chavarin had a warrant for his arrest for driving with a suspended license. Chavarin spent the night in the Morongo Basin Jail and was released about 6:15 Sunday morning. The report states Chavarin hailed a cab to take him to the 6400 block of El Dorado Avenue in Yucca Valley, where he slapped the cab driver and then went into the house and refused to pay his cab fare. The cab driver called police, and Daniel Chavarin was arrested again just after 10 a.m., for investigation of defrauding an innkeeper, and booked back into the Morongo Basin Jail.
