YUCCA VALLEY MAN ARRESTED FOR SHOOTING GUNS TO RELIEVE STRESS

A Yucca Valley man who tried to relieve some stress by shooting his firearms in his back yard was arrested Saturday night. About 7:30 p.m. Saturday, multiple calls were made to 911 saying that someone was shooting a gun in the 57800 block of Buena Vista Drive. The callers said the shooter was firing over their houses and that they could hear the bullets as they passed overhead. Arriving deputies identified the shooter as Noe Marroquin, 46, and they found multiple spent rifle, pistol, and shotgun rounds on the ground in his back yard. According to deputies, Marroquin had been drinking and said he was “stressed out” and “needed to blow off a little steam,” and so he fired off about 30 rounds from his rifle, shotgun, and pistol in his back yard, despite having numerous neighbors within 100 yards of his residence. When confronted by deputies, Marroquin was apologetic and admitted his actions were negligent. Deputies confiscated Marroquin’s guns, which included a .44 magnum revolver, a 12-gauge shotgun, and a .223-caliber AR-15. Noe Marroquin was arrested for investigation of negligent discharge of a firearm, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, and was released Sunday morning on $50,000 bail.
