YUCCA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL BAND IN COMPETITION SATURDAY, CONCERT TOMORROW

The Yucca Valley High School Trojan marching band and color guard has been selected to compete in the California State Band Championships Finals Saturday, November 21 at Westminster High School. The Trojans were ranked seventh in their division out of a field of 18 competitors last week. In preparation for the competition Saturday, the band will give a finals send-off performance Friday night at Trojan Stadium at Yucca Valley High School. The gates will open at 5 p.m. and the performance will begin at 5:30. The event is free, although donations will be accepted to help offset the costs of their competition season. Saturday morning, the band leaves at 5 am. for its 10:30 am. performance. If the band places in the top three, it will play at the grand championships at Huntington Beach High School Saturday night. Band director Bill Barrett said, “That would absolutely be the most amazing experience for these kids who’ve worked so hard this year. I can think of no other way to finish our season.”
