YOUTH FOOD PROGRAM

School’s out, but kids still need to eat well.  Reporter Mike Lipsitz talks up the Summer Feeding Program…

 Hi-Desert Medical Center’s Family Health Clinics are partnering with the US Department of Agriculture’s Summer Food Service Program and the Morongo Unified School District to offer free lunches to area youth up to age 18. Lunches will include a sandwich or pita, fresh fruit, vegetable and milk. Lunches and are available between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., Monday through Thursday, from June 22 and through July 30. Food is provided by the USDA and prepared by the MUSD. The clinics will also offer youth activities and entertainment during the lunch hours. There’s a clinic in Yucca Valley on the highway between Prescott and Avalon and the Twentynine Palms Family Health Clinic is on the highway between Dollar General and Stardune Ave. For more information about this program, call Ben Costello at 760-366-1546.
