The dishonest people that try to trick you out of your hard-earned money are at it again. Reporter Taylor Thacker warns us about another scam that targets Craigâs List offeringsâŚ
Con artists are always scheming to take your money. In a recent scam, an individual who posted an object for sale on Craigâs List at about $400 received a potential buyerâs check for $2,395 asking the individual to cash the check and send the remaining amount back to the buyer. This is a scam! Never agree to send the buyer the remaining difference of the check, because many times the check is no good and the seller is now down the amount of money they sent to the buyer. You are responsible for the checks you deposit, so beware of this scam. There is no legitimate reason for someone who is giving you money to ask you to send money back. If you believe you have been a victim of a scam, notify the National Consumersâ League Fraud Center or call the Sheriffâs Department at 760-366-4175.
