WOMAN ARRESTED SQUATTING IN HOME WITH STOLEN JEEP

A Yucca Valley woman was arrested Monday morning after she was found squatting at a home with a stolen Jeep. According to a Sheriff’s report, the owner of a home in the 6900 block of Lennox Avenue in Yucca Valley had secured the location with a locksmith on Friday, but when she went back Monday morning, she saw a Jeep parked in the driveway. The Sheriff’s deputy located Katelyn Van Buskirk, 20, at the home, who said she and another man had bought the Jeep—which had a punched ignition—for $250. She told the deputy she came to the home on Lennox Avenue because she had heard it was vacant and she needed a place to stay. Katelyn Van Buskirk was arrested for investigation of possession of stolen property and trespassing. She was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail with her bail set at $50,000.
