“WESTERN WHOA!” AT ONAGA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL LAST NIGHT

Onaga Elementary School students put on a play last night worthy of the big screen. Reporter Kristy Lockhart has a sample of “Western Whoa!”…

“Western Whoa!” is the story of Smiling Slade and Sue Flay, two villains who team up to steal a diamond necklace from Senorita Juanita Fandango by framing Chuck Wagon. The characters steal the show with singing, dancing and hilarity along the way. “It’s a western parody. We’ve got the bad guys, we’ve got the good guys, we’ve got it all.” Third-grade Teacher Pam Schoenborn is the creative force behind the scenes, working with students to bring two plays a year to the stage. A lot of work and hours go into each show. Sixth graders Caelan Fraschetti and Katryna Kimberlain play main character’s Chuckwagon and Sue Flay. “It’s fun to be in plays like this because it gives you a different experience. I like to entertain people.” “I like the nerves and the excitement you get when you’re on stage.”
