WE REVIEW “THE PERILS OF GOLDILOCKS” AT THEATRE 29

The summer youth theater production of “The Perils of Goldilocks” is running through July 27 at Theatre 29. In his review of the play, special correspondent Les Taylor says the delightful production is not just for kids…
John Wright has directed another winning youth theater show with “The Perils of Goldilocks,” now onstage at Theatre 29 in Twentynine Palms, playing weekends through July 28. The show, actually two separate one-act plays skillfully mashed together, is a total delight with larger-than-life characters, bright, colorful costumes and makeup, silly jokes and actions, a truly beautiful set, audience participation and, of course, a good moral. And it’s in 3-D! Act One more or less tells the familiar story of Goldi’s adventure with the three bears, while in Act Two Miss Locks has been arrested and is now on trial for breaking and entering. You’ll love the three bears, especially the adorable Natalie Coughlin as Baby Bear. Marissa Thomas as Goldilocks was fun and handled her interaction with the audience nicely as did Jessica Lomeli as the storyteller. In fact, the entire cast, young and mature, veteran and novice, carried their roles off well and the show flowed pretty much seamlessly start to finish. If anything, I wanted them to take a little more time with some of the bits and dialogue, as I was enjoying them so much! If your child has never seen live theatre this is a wonderful show for first timers and I’m confident you’ll enjoy “The Perils of Goldilocks” just as much as they will. Make reservations by calling 760-361-4151 or go to Theatre29.org. Your kids will thank you for it!
