WE REVIEW “NO CRIME LIKE THE PRESENT” AT YUCCA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL

The Yucca Valley High School theatre company presents, “No Crime Like the Present,” a murder mystery by Bill Gleason. Reporter Rebecca Havely offers this review of the production…
Private eye Mavis Davis searches for the killer of a woman who everyone wanted dead. The smooth-talking Mariah Muchtar plays Mavis Davis with calm, cool confidence. As she puts it, “I’ve been around the block more times than a crooked cabby,” with the help of Tyler Geeson, who suits his role well as a detective named Slack with a great Boston accent; the victim, news anchor Cassandra Dumont, played villainously well by Madison Curtiss; the suspects, practically everyone else in the large cast. Stand-out performers include Madelynn Nimmo as Jennie Abbot and Katelynn Bergman as Bronski. The cast also features: Aaron Ahmadi, Patrick Ferragut, Christopher Stevens, Nicolas Geogea, Sean McClintock, Brian Evens, Joey Hesse, Hannah Brook, Chalise Kunz, Madison Gaunt and many more. Find out for yourself who done it at “No Crime Like the Present.”
The mystery runs nightly through January 17 at 6 p.m. with a 1 p.m. matinee on Saturday, January 17. Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for students, children 12 and under are free, available at the door of the multi-purpose room at Yucca Valley High School, 7600 Sage Avenue.
