Today we visit with Jordan Edwards, from Hope Academy Charter School and candidate for Miss Yucca Valley. Who is the prominent woman interviewed, and what did you learn from her?
“The prominent woman I have interviewed was the wonderful Pam Fields. I have learned so much from Pam, but something stuck with me, and I know it will forever, her passion for her family. When you think of family, you think of your mother, father, or siblings, but when I think of family I think of Dance, because dance will always be a part of me, just like your family will always be a part of you.”
What have you learned from your experience with Miss Yucca Valley?
“Throughout the months of Miss Yucca Valley I am able to recall numerous experiences which I will always hold in my min as meaningful. Every Monday, those 11 young women touched my heart and changed my life. I can vividly remember the first time I opened my heart to them. The anticipation and excitement I felt as I blossomed for the first time was simply transcendent. I have never really tried to open up and tell people what was really on my mind until I met everyone at the meetings, it has been an amazing learning experience. As the pageant comes closer and the meetings will come to an end, I have learned from the book, ‘The 7 Habits of a Highly Effective Teenager,’ that you must accept yourself, before expecting others to accept you. You must have to be who you are at heart.”
Any final words?
“I strongly believe that every girl becoming a junior should really participate in Miss Yucca Valley. It is such an eye opening experience that I never thought I would do. It is like dedicating a little bit of your life to everyone in Yucca Valley, a dedication, not a sacrifice. It will become this amazing experience because it is an intense effort applied toward a meaningful end.”
