WAL-MART EVACUATED AFTER BOMB THREAT THIS AFTERNOON

Wal-Mart management evacuated the store today after it received a telephoned bomb threat. Detective Corey Emon said Wal-Mart received a phone call about 2:20 in which the unidentified caller threatened to blow up the store. Emon said at that time, management decided to clear the store of employees and customers, after which it called the Sheriff’s Department at 2:42 p.m. to report the threat. The Sheriff’s Department then turned the store back over to Wal-Mart management. About seven or eight employees went back in the store about 4 p.m., presumably to look for anything that was out of place or suspicious, as Emon said employees would know better than deputies if something looked wrong. According to Emon, the Sheriff’s Department will investigate the phone call and attempt to identify the caller.DSC_1793
