TWO YUCCA VALLEY TOWN COUNCIL MEMBERS RECALL PETITIONS STILL IN LIMBO

The petition to recall two members of the Yucca Valley Town Council is still in limbo. Proponents of the recall petition submitted the petition to the town clerk May 13, who returned it May 20 for required corrections. The petition was re-submitted to the clerk’s office May 23, and the petition was expected to be returned to the proponents by today with required amendments. By law, the recall proponents can’t start collecting signatures until the petition has been approved by the Town Clerk. Then the petitioners will have 90 days to collect signatures from 25 percent of the registered voters in Yucca Valley, or from about 2,300 voters. If the proponents collect enough signatures, then a special election will be held, at taxpayer expense, about six months later to recall council members George Huntington and Robert Lombardo.
