TWO INJURIES IN TWO SEPARATE CRASHES ON MORONGO GRADE SATURDAY

At least two people were injured in three separate crashes in 1 ½ hours on the Morongo Grade Saturday morning. The first crash happened at 9:28 a.m. Witnesses reported a dark gray Honda was weaving and passing vehicles in an unsafe manner as it was driving westbound down the grade. The driver lost control and crashed into the side of the mountain, with the car ending up on its roof. The driver was out of the car and sitting on the side of the road when Morongo Valley firefighters arrived on the scene. The driver was taken to Desert Hospital in Palms Springs with moderate injuries. At 10:02, a second crash happened about one-quarter of a mile up the highway, in the back-up of the first crash. In the second crash, one patient was taken by AMR to Desert Hospital. And the California Highway Patrol reports that a third crash was called in at 10:50 on northbound Highway 62, near Indian Trail. There were no reports of injuries in that crash.
