TWO HURT IN THURSDAY AFTERNOON CRASH IN MORONGO VALLEY

Two women were taken to the hospital last night after a two-car crash in Morongo Valley that shut down the highway for about an hour. According to Morongo Valley Fire Chief “Jock” Johnson, firefighters were called to the crash at Elm Street and Highway 62 at 6:33 p.m. There they found a vehicle in the eastbound turn lane, between the delineators. The second vehicle was in the westbound Number 2 lane. Rescue personnel had to use the Jaws of Life to extricate the woman from the westbound car. Both women were taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs with minor to moderate injuries.
