TWO ARRESTED IN TWENTYNINE PALMS

Two people were arrested early Wednesday morning in Twentynine Palms. According to a Sheriff’s report, a deputy stopped two people— Melanie Abarca, 35, and Gabriel Lucero, 33—near Raymond Drive at Adobe Road about 2:15 a.m. A records check found that Abarca, who was convicted last year for burglary, was wanted on a $100,000 warrant from Riverside County for bringing drugs into jail. The deputy determined that Lucero was under the influence of a controlled substance and admitted to using methamphetamine earlier in the day. During a search, the deputy found a credit card that had been sharpened into a knife, and various burglary tools in Lucero’s possession. Melanie Abarca was arrested for her warrant and released to Riverside County. Gabriel Lucero was arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon, and was released about 4 a.m. on $25,000 bail.
