TWENTYNINE PALMS WATER DISTRICT REVEALS TIMELINE FOR ALANIZ OUT, KOLISZ IN AS GENERAL MANAGER

The Twentynine Palms Water District has defined the somewhat confusing chain of events that recently resulted in a change in management. At a special February 4 meeting, the Twentynine Palms Water District reported out of a closed session that was agendized for “potential litigation,” that it had allowed its contract with its general manager Tamara Alaniz to expire, and had appointed Ray Kolisz at its acting general manager. However, Kolisz had signed the February 4 agenda as the acting general manager on February 2, before the meeting at which he was named as acting general manager. After queries from Z107.7 News, Board President Sam Moore explained the board had made the decision to not renew Alaniz’s contract at its January 28 meeting—which did include a closed session for performance evaluation of its general manager—and said that the Brown Act allows for certain personnel actions to be reported out at the following meeting.
