TWENTYNINE PALMS PLANNING COMMISSION TO STUDY REQUIREMENT FOR HOUSING FOR VERY LOW-INCOME

The Twentynine Palms Planning Commission has a limited agenda for tonight’s meeting, at which a form of extremely low-income housing will be discussed. Reporter Dan Stork explains…
The February 3 meeting of the Twentynine Palms Planning Commission will be devoted to a study session on Single Room Occupancy accommodations. SROs are extremely low-income units of 150 to 400 square feet. The housing code within the City’s general plan must be amended to meet a state requirement for municipal housing codes that allowances, zoning considerations, and rules for such facilities at least be on the books. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. in City Hall on Adobe Road.
