TWENTYNINE PALMS PLANNING COMMISSION TALKS ABOUT LIGHT AT AMBOY AND UTAH, HOTEL RESTAURANT

The Twentynine Palms Planning Commission met last night in a very short and sweet meeting, with only one action item on the agenda. In the public comment section, Karen Cole requested either a traffic or blinking light at the intersection of Utah Trail and Amboy Road, saying it’s a dangerous intersection. The commission plans to forward her request to the appropriate department. Planning Commissioner Carey Alderson recused himself from the discussion about the full-service restaurant in the Hotel 29 Palms due to a conflict of interest. The commission decided the applicant must sign a Condition of Approval within 30 days, and they will review the restaurant’s progress in April to decide what further actions should take place. Chair Greg Mendoza stated that this was “an act of good faith” considering not much physical progress has been made.
