TWENTYNINE PALMS MAN WALKING ON LEAR AVENUE HIT, NOT EXPECTED TO LIVE

A Twentynine Palms man is not expected to live after being hit by a car Saturday night. According to Sheriff Deputy Brad Heard, Alissa Myers, 25, of Twentynine Palms was driving southbound on Lear Avenue about 9 p.m. when her Honda hit Jason Harpel, 38, who she said was walking southbound in the middle of the road. Harpel suffered significant head injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Hi-Desert Medical Center and then flown by Mercy Air to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs, where as of Sunday evening he was still in intensive care.
