TWENTYNINE PALMS CITY COUNCIL MEETS TONIGHT

A statue unveiling, Redevelopment Agency fallout, City Manager evaluation, and a request for fee waivers all figure on the Twentynine Palms City Council agenda for tonight. Reporter Dan Stork has the order of events…
The Twentynine Palms City Council will gather at 5 p.m. at Theatre 29 on Sullivan Road, before its September 9 meeting, for the unveiling of a new Simi Dabah sculpture. Back at City Hall, the Council will meet in closed session at 5:30 to consider three matters:
• the real property negotiations for four parcels that the Successor to the dissolved Redevelopment Agency is obliged to get rid of;
• one case of anticipated litigation;
• and existing litigation with the California Department of Finance over the proceeds of the Project Phoenix bonds.
In the 6 p.m. open session, in addition to further discussion of the four parcels discussed in closed session, the Council will consider whether to waive all City fees for the Fuller Center house-building project planned for mid-November. At the end of the evening, the Council will return to closed session for a performance evaluation of Interim City Manager Andy Takata.
