TWENTYNINE PALMS CITY COUNCIL LOOKS AT A $3.5 MILLION SHERIFF’S CONTRACT

After holding a ribbon cutting ceremony over improvements at Knott’s Sky Park at 5:15 p.m. to the Development Code that will establish guidelines for single-room occupancy facilities. In other business, it will discuss an extension of the contract of Jim Hamilton, the part-time development director. Also up for consideration is a proposal to lease a city-owned house at 7125 Mantonya Road to the Joshua Tree Science Campus Committee at $1 per year, to be used as a place for meetings and other activities related to the NatureBridge Science Camp. Last, but certainly not least, the Council will discuss approval of the city’s budget for fiscal 2015-2016. A small surplus of about $23 thousand is projected in the nearly $8 million budget. The largest single expense item, which is on the consent agenda, is about $3.5 million for police services contracted with the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. in City Hall on Adobe Road.
