TWENTYNINE PALMS CITY COUNCIL CONSIDERS $1.7 MILLION WATER DISTRICT BAIL-OUT

The Twentynine Palms City Council met last night in a special and closed session. Reporter David Haldane says on the table is a proposed bail-out for the Water District…
The Twentynine Palms City Council decided to cut it close Wednesday by postponing until November 30 a vote heralding the county’s takeover of its firefighting services. That’s just two days before the deadline for the change to take place by July.
On the table is nearly $1.7 million needed by the water district to fund the pensions of its retiring firefighters, an obligation the city has pledged to help cover just to make the deal happen.
