THIS IS RETIRED TEACHERS WEEK

This week we join the nation in honoring retired teachers. Managing Editor Tami Roleff says our local Morongo Basin Retired teachers deserve our thanks…
Perhaps you’ve spotted one of your former teachers out walking dogs at a local animal shelter, or ringing up purchases at your favorite thrift shop. Maybe you’ve seen a teacher from your past reading to a patient at a continuing care facility. Have you recognized a docent at one of our local museums or noticed a familiar face serving as a chaperone on a school field trip? Every day, retired teachers join with volunteers throughout the Morongo Basin to reach out selflessly, whether in the public eye or working behind the scenes, to those in need. Asked to keep a record of the time they volunteered last year, retired teachers logged in 21,687 volunteer hours. This week marks the sixteenth Retired Teachers Week. Say “Thanks” to the retired teachers who still work to make a difference in the Morongo Basin.
