Family, food, fun, recognition and a marriage proposal were all part of the 2016 Theatre 29 Volunteer Appreciation dinner Saturday night at the Joshua Tree Retreat Center. Over 100 volunteers from the seven productions produced by the non-profit Community Theater Organization in 2015 were on hand for appreciation and dinner. After entertainment by D.J. DJ, Board President Gary Daigneault presided over the presentation of certificates of appreciation and new Theatre 29 Volunteer appreciation pins. A multi-media presentation by Charles Harvey showed clips and memories from the very successful 2015 season. The highlight was a show-stopping marriage proposal from Ed Will to Amada Winters. (She said yes.) After the presentations, the prestigious âVolunteer of the Yearâ recognition went to Twentynine Palms High School senior Diana Jimenez, who worked behind the stage on all seven of the shows. The âAbove and Beyondâ award went to set and prop builder Doug Peercy. The âUnseen Heroâ nod went to Twentynine Palms Marine Robert Pushkar, who has repaired and maintained the theaterâs iconic electronic sign on Adobe Road.
