THE OASIS STORYTELLING PROJECT IN TWENTYNINE PALMS

The City of Twentynine Palms and the Twentynine Palms Historical Society are applying to the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for a $50,000 Grant to complete The Oasis Storytelling Project. The project will add sculptures to National Park Drive that highlight the roles of native peoples and women in the area’s history.

The federal NEA grant is a matching grant. The Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians has pledged $12,500. Public Art Advisory Committee chair Pat Flanagan told the City Council that a large number of not-necessarily large donations to the City of Twentynine Palms real soon will boost the application by showing grass roots support.  Details on how to donate are with this story on z1077fm.com.

How to donate: Leave an envelope with your name, town, state, and donation at the Old Schoolhouse Museum, 6760 National Park Drive; the 29 Palms Inn, 73950 Inn Avenue off National Park Drive; or the Chamber of Commerce, 73484 29 Palms Hwy., downtown Twentynine Palms. If under 18, include your grade level. Make checks payable to City of Twentynine Palms. For questions or more information, contact Pat Flanagan at 760-362-4156 or email [email protected].
