STOLEN ORVS IN JOSHUA TREE

One person was arrested, and two stolen off-road vehicles were recovered in Joshua Tree Wednesday night. According to a Sheriff’s report, a 2004 Honda and Suzuki quads were stolen during the early morning hours of Tuesday, from a shed in the back yard of a home in the 61600 block of Alta Loma Drive. The owner of the quads reported a neighbor heard them being started up about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. Numerous sightings of the off-road vehicles were reported in Joshua Tree. On Wednesday night, the stolen quads were seen near the old Joshua Tree Elementary School on Sunburst Avenue. Deputies found Bryan Stewart, 32, of Joshua Tree with one of the quads, and he allegedly told deputies he knew the quads were stolen. He took deputies to a location near Troll Canyon Road and La Contenta Road where the second quad was recovered. Bryan Steward was arrested for investigation of possession of stolen property, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
