SQUATTER ARRESTED IN TWENTYNINE PALMS

A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Monday afternoon after he was found squatting at a residence. According to a Sheriff’s report, deputies were called to a residence in the 74500 block of Baseline Road about 1:45 Monday afternoon because a squatter had returned to the home. Daniel Stewart, 39, was arrested for trespassing, but during a search, a kitchen knife was found in his right boot. The report states that Stewart claimed he used the knife to cut cheese, then put it in his boot, and forgot it was there. He also said he used it for protection. After an investigation, Daniel Stewart was arrested on suspicion of possession of a dangerous weapon, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $25,000.
