SHERIFF’S PATROL CAR TOTALED IN JOSHUA TREE CRASH

A Sheriff’s patrol car was totaled early Saturday morning when it crashed into another vehicle on the highway in Joshua Tree. According to Sheriff’s Corporal Steve Everhart, at 1:25 a.m., Deputy John Lett was driving eastbound on Highway 62 through Joshua Tree, responding to a request for back-up for a domestic violence call. Everhart said as Lett approached the intersection of Sunset, a woman pulled out onto the highway in front of him, and he crashed into her vehicle. Neither Lett nor the other driver, or her young child were injured in the crash, although the Sheriff’s patrol car was totaled. The California Highway Patrol is investigating.
