SCHOOL BOARD MAKES IT EASIER FOR COLLEGE ADMISSIONS AT CSSB

An exceptionally short meeting of the Morongo Unified School District Board of Education included the approval of an agreement that will be of great benefit to future college-bound high school graduates in the District. Reporter Dan Stork explains…
Last night, MUSD approved a Memorandum of Understanding with California State University San Bernardino that will smooth both the way in and the way through that institution for local high school grads. Interim Superintendent Tom Baumgarten explains: “The Morongo Unified School District, along with 11 other school districts in San Bernardino County, have entered an agreement that students who meet the college requirements are guaranteed priority placement and acceptance at [Cal State] San Bernardino, which means that they can have classes that they would need, so that they can graduate in a timely manner, which would be four years, if they stay on track.” That is, MUSD students who complete the statutory college prep requirements, plus fine arts electives, are not only guaranteed a spot at CSUSB, but have first shot at registering for required classes while at the university. Board President Karalee Hargrove was absent from this meeting; she was in Sacramento meeting with the State Superintendent of Education and other state officials on behalf of the District.
