SAFETY FIRST IN THE NATIONAL PARK

Due to excessive heat and drier-than-normal conditions, the risk of fires is high in the Morongo Basin. Joshua Tree National Park officials remind visitors that campfires are only allowed in designated campsites with fire rings. Smokers should only smoke on paved surfaces or in a vehicle, and should never throw butts on the ground. If you see smoke or fire, report it to authorities immediately. Fireworks are strictly prohibited in the park. Violators will be cited and fireworks confiscated. For your safety, tell others where you intend to go in Joshua Tree National Park. Most areas in the park do not have cell phone coverage. And finally, balloons are an eyesore and a hazard to wildlife in Joshua Tree National Park.
