REMINDER THAT BURN PERMITS ARE SUSPENDED IN STATE AREAS

After responding to two illegal trash fires in Landers in two days, San Bernardino County firefighters want to remind residents and visitors that all burn permits on state responsibility lands have been suspended due to the extreme fire hazard. In addition, campfires are restricted to public campgrounds with campfire facilities. Cooking fires with a valid permit are permissible when there is no other means of cooking available, but all cooking fires require an on-site inspection prior to the issuance of a permit. Warming fires are also permissible, with an on-site inspection prior to issuing a permit, when weather conditions justify the request.
