RELAY FOR LIFE SPONSORS “BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS” OPENING NIGHT GALA

Relay for Life of Morongo Basin will be hosting the Opening Night Gala of “Brighton Beach Memoirs”, by Neil Simon,  on Friday, October 10 at 6 p.m. at St. Joseph of Arimathea in Yucca at the corner of Church St. and Onaga Trail in Yucca Valley.

Brighton Beach Memoirs will be performed by the St. Joseph’s Players, and is directed by Desert Theater League award winner and nominee, Rebecca Havely.  Set in the Brighton Beach section of Brooklyn, New York in September 1937, this coming-of-age comedy/drama  focuses on Eugene Morris Jerome, a PolishJewish American teenager who experiences the trials of puberty, and a search for identity as he tries to deal with his crazy  family, including his older brother Stanley, his parents Kate and Jack, Kate’s sister Blanche, and her two daughters, Nora and Laurie, who come to live there after their father’s death.

For Opening Night, Friday, October 10th, doors open at 6 p.m. with curtain at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 and include heavy hors d’oeuvres before the show, and dessert and coffee during intermission. There will be a silent auction held before the show and during intermission as well.  Proceeds from the Sponsored Opening Night Gala fundraiser will help support the American Cancer Society’s survivor and caregiver programs.   The show will run 4 consecutive weekends thru Nov. 2nd and offers both matinee and evening performances.  For more information or tickets to the Opening Night Gala, contact Diane Durden at 760-218-4584.  For all other reservations and inquiries call 760-365-7133.
