RAMOS NAMED CHAIRMAN OF COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

The County Board of Supervisors elected Supervisor James Ramos to serve as Board Chairman for the next two years yesterday. “I am honored my colleagues have chosen me to lead the Board over the next two years. It is truly humbling to serve as the first Native American Supervisor and now Chairman of the Board of Supervisors,” Ramos said. Chairman Ramos is midway through his first term on the Board. Ramos represents the Third District, which includes our Morongo Basin. The voter-approved County Charter requires the Board to elect a chair at its first meeting in January following an election of supervisors. The Chair serves as the Board’s general executive agent by presiding over meetings of the Board, signing contracts approved by the Board, and working with the chief executive officer to set the Board’s agenda.
