PROPERTY VALUES RISING UNEVENLY IN THE MORONGO BASIN

Property values in the Morongo Basin are going up. Reporter David Haldane says area communities are seeing increases but they vary among our local communities…
If you own a home in Yucca Valley, its increase in value since last year has nearly kept up with that of homes across the Inland Empire. If your house is in Twentynine Palms, on the other hand, well, not so much.
That’s the gist of a report released this week by the State Board of Equalization showing a 5.5 percent year-to-year gain in assessed property values throughout the region. That’s slightly better than the 5 percent posted in Yucca, and better still than Twentynine Palm’s increase of 2.2 percent.
Joshua Tree is in unincorporated county area which showed an overall increase of 3.9 percent countywide.
The good news, county officials say, is that it’s the first time area home values have reached the previous highs achieved before the real estate market crashed in 2008.
