PRESCRIPTION DRUGS BLAMED FOR MAJOR INJURY ROLLOVER CRASH

A Yucca Valley woman suffered major injuries after she rolled her car on Old Woman Springs Road Monday night; use of prescription drugs are suspected. Shortly after 10 p.m. Tammy Godden, 34, was driving northbound on Old Woman Springs Road when she lost control of her 1997 Ford Explorer. Her vehicle went onto the shoulder, the tire got caught in the sand, and the Explorer rolled over into the desert. Paramedics from Yucca Mesa fire station had to use the Jaws of Life to pop off the doors to the car to rescue her and her 3-year-old son. Godden was taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. Her child was not injured but was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure. According to a CHP press release, charges of DUI and child endangerment are expected to be filed against Godden. Officer Alex Scott warns residents that many prescription drugs affect a person’s ability to drive. He adds, if the drug’s warning label cautions against driving, then don’t drive.
