PEDESTRIAN KILLED CROSSING THE HIGHWAY IN MORONGO VALLEY

A pedestrian was killed last night in Morongo Valley as he attempted to cross the highway. About 5:50 p.m., the elderly Morongo Valley man was crossing Highway 62 southbound at Desert Willow when he was struck by a Sheryl Scott, 50, of Morongo Valley, who was driving westbound in a 2007 Ford Focus. The pedestrian—who has not yet been identified by the coroner—was killed instantly. Scott was not injured in the crash, although the vehicle sustained major damage. The fast lanes for both east- and westbound traffic were closed for four hours as the California Highway Patrol investigated the crash.
