OVER 1,800 CARS STOPPED IN TWO CHECKPOINTS, NO DUI ARRESTS

The Yucca Valley and Twentynine Palms police departments both held DUI checkpoints in the last two weeks. The Yucca Valley checkpoint was held August 23 at Balsa Avenue and Highway 62 from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. A Sheriff’s press release reports that 1,082 vehicle were stopped during that time, with no arrests for driving under the influence. Three drivers received citations for driving without a license, and one of the drivers was also cited for driving without proof of insurance. The Twentynine Palms DUI checkpoint was held August 29 from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Adobe Road and Sunnyvale Drive. Twentynine Palms police stopped 758 cars and made zero arrests for driving under the influence. Two drivers were cited for driving without a license.
