The Yucca Valley High School varsity tennis team beat Rancho Mirage High School 11-7 and took the league championship with a record of 12-0 for the season. In singles, Carrie Scofield went 1-2, Rachel Green 1-2, and Miranda Green 1-2. In doubles, Aimee Frank and Cionne Lonergan were 3-0; Dawn Rich and Moriah Goddard, 3-0; and Aislinn Gueltzow and Christa Jenkins 2-1.

Monday, the Twentynine Palms High School Ladycat tennis team travelled to Big Bear and came away victorious. The Ladycats took a strong early lead and kept the momentum going all through the match. The final score was 14-4.

Tuesday, the Twentynine Palms High School Ladycat girls’ tennis team defeated Desert Hot Springs High School by a score of 11-7, on the last league game of the season. The team was led by seniors Makayla Ogdahl, Jasmine Smith, Natasha Wright, Roberta Martinez and Keyonna Trader. The LadyCats won four out of the first six sets, taking an early lead. In the second round the ladies continued the charge and won an additional four. In the final round of singles, Smith closed it out sweeping all three. Likewise, in doubles, Ogdahl and partner Alex Morrissey, also swept all three. The Ladycats are now firmly in second place in the De Anza League, with a record of nine wins and three losses.

Coming up in high school sports tomorrow is the De Anza Leage finals tournament for girls’ tennis. Also tomorrow, the Joshua Springs girls’ volleyball team will travel away to Redlands Adventist Academy, with first serve at 5:30.
