OPPONENTS OF JOSHUA TREE DOLLAR GENERAL MEET SATURDAY

The opponents of a Dollar General store in Joshua Tree have called a community meeting for this Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Joshua Tree Community Center to discuss the options in going forward with regard to opposing the store now that the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors have denied their appeal and will let the project proceed. Organizers said the Board of Supervisors have signaled an interest in working with the Joshua Tree community on a “specific plan” for Joshua Tree’s business district — essentially an extremely detailed land use planning document that would have the full force of law. They will also discuss how to organize the crafting of such a document, and what it should include. The Joshua Tree Community Center is located at 6171 Sunburst Avenue.
