ONE ARREST AFTER HIGH-SPEED CHASE IN YUCCA VALLEY MONDAY NIGHT

A Joshua Tree man is in custody following a high-speed pursuit Monday night in Yucca Valley. According to Sergeant Jim Thornburg, about 10:30 p.m., a deputy patrolling near Church Street and Highway 62 heard a car’s tires squealing and attempted a traffic stop. The driver appeared to yield in a gas station lot, but then took off eastbound on the highway at speeds reaching 100 miles per hour, and ran several red lights. The 1998 Honda then turned north into a residential area and drove through Barberry and Antelope Avenues at speeds reaching 70 miles per hour, before turning north onto Old Woman Springs Road. The driver, later identified as Raymond Lindley, 39, turned west onto Skyline Ranch Road. The Honda’s tires then deflated and Lindley fled on foot. Deputies called in a helicopter to aid in the search, and Lindley was located hiding under a bush. The Honda Lindley had been driving was determined to have been stolen in Apple Valley a few hours earlier. Lindley was also on felony probation for possession of a stolen boat. Raymond Lindley was arrested for investigation of felony failure to yield and receiving stolen property, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $100,000.
