OLD SCHOOLHOUSE LECTURE IN TWENTYNINE PALMS TONIGHT

The Morongo Basin has a rich archeological history that goes back thousands of years. Dr. Mark Harrington is best known for his discovery of the Gypsum Culture, a pre-pottery people who hunted and gathered in the arid western U.S. between 4,000 and 1,500 years ago. Harrington is also known for discovering intact duck decoys made from reeds in Nevada. John Hale, an archeologist with the Marine Corps at the Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, will discuss the life and work of Harrington at the Second Friday Lecture at the Old Schoolhouse Museum, at 7 p.m. Friday, March 14. There will be an optional dinner with Hale at the 29 Palms Inn, starting at 5 p.m. The schoolhouse is located at 6760 National Park Drive in Twentynine Palms.
