Oktoberfest is right around the corner scheduled for October 25, and many fun activities are on this year’s agenda. Some of the activities include the Safe and Sane Grand Slam, a beer-drinking contest with a twist. Contestants will compete against each other to see who the fastest beer drinker is with O’Doul’s, non-alcoholic beer. There will also be a log-sawing contest to see which team cuts the log the fastest, and a stein holding contest to see who can hold a full 20-ounce stein of beer the longest. For the younger attendees, there will be a best costume contest for prizes for one woman, one man, one girl, and one boy; and a pre-decorated pumpkin contest where kids can decorate their pumpkins at home and bring them to the festival to be judged! The 2014 Oktoberfest event will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. at the Little League Park next to the Boys and Girls Club in Yucca Valley. For more information, call 760-365-1988.
