NEW WEBSITE IS A VETERANS PROGRAMS CLEARING HOUSE

Trying to get focused information on veterans’ programs from a general-purpose Internet search engine can be like getting a sip of water from a fire hose. Reporter Dan Stork describes a web-based start-up that seeks to control the flow…

Purportedly, there are over 50,000 organizations that provide services to veterans and active service members. Finding ones that meet your particular concerns, and are near you, and evaluating how useful they might be, is a daunting task. A tech startup called Unite US (see https://uniteus.com/) is trying to address that need. Co-founded last year by four young men, three of them military veterans, it is described by co-founder and CEO Dan Brillman in terms of existing Internet ventures that are familiar to the general public. In an article you can read at a link in this story at Z1077fm.com, Brillman says it has a job-seeking component like LinkedIn, some elements of social networking, evaluations like Yelp, and a way to find people with similar interests, sort of like match.com. Use of the site is free to veterans. Unite US hopes to make money by selling software tools and a marketing venue to organizations and companies that want access to the market of current military, 22 million-plus veterans, and their families.
