NEW SHERIFF’S CAPTAIN A FAMILIAR FACE IN THE MORONGO BASIN

County Sheriff John McMahon promoted Lieutenant Jeff Joling to the rank of captain yesterday. Captain Joling will take over as commander of the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s station June 27. He takes over from Captain Dale Mondary who is leaving June 12 to serve as the chief of police in nearby Desert Hot Springs. Joling has been with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department for more than 25 years, and has been a resident of the Morongo Basin for more than 20 years. Joling has been assigned to the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s station for about 17 years of those 25 years. Before his promotion, Joling was a lieutenant in the Volunteer Forces/Emergency Operations Center at Sheriff’s headquarters in San Bernardino.
