NEW MORONGO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION SALARIES RAISE EYEBROWS, MEETING TONIGHT

Employee recognitions, bond fund oversight, and administrators’ salaries are among the items before the Morongo Unified School District Board of Education. Reporter Dan Stork previews the agenda…

The Morongo Unified School District Board of Education will begin its May 20 meeting with a report by the Citizens’ Oversight Committee on Measure O bond use. Following that, awards will be presented to selected teachers and classified employees in the District’s east end schools. After an intermission, the Board will attend to regular business, including:

  • Single Plans for Student Achievement for Friendly Hills, Condor, Yucca Mesa, and Oasis Elementary Schools;
  • Review of K-12 math textbooks;
  • Board Policy on Graduation Requirements;
  • Contract addenda for the superintendent and the three assistant Superintendents, giving them compensation increases to match the recent percentage increases achieved by certificated and classified employees. This would bring the assistant superintendents’ base annual salaries to around $130,000 each, and the superintendent’s base salary to just under $184,000, all of these retroactive to July of last year.

Closed sessions will both precede and follow the 7 p.m. open session. The Board meets at Joshua Tree Elementary School.
