Because potentially dangerous expired, unused, or unwanted prescription drugs languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration are offering an opportunity to prevent abuse and theft by bringing your pills for disposal on Saturday, September 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The service is free and anonymous. Americans are now advised that past methods for disposing of unused medicines, like flushing them or throwing them in the trash pose potential safety and health hazards. Bring your unwanted drugs to the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station on the highway at Whitefeather Road in Joshua Tree.
