MOTEL THREAT LEADS TO DRUG ARREST

A Joshua Tree woman was arrested early Friday morning, accused of being under the influence of drugs. According to a Sheriff’s report, deputies were called to a motel in the 72500 block of 29 Palms Highway in Twentynine Palms about 1:45 a.m. by the motel manager because a woman, later identified as Anna Stafford, was threatening the manager. The report states the manager had received several noise complaints about Stafford and when he went to her room to ask her to quiet down, she raised her fist as if she was going to hit him. When deputies arrived, they noticed that Stafford was very fidgety, and admitted she had been using methamphetamine. Anna Stafford was arrested for investigation of being under the influence of a controlled substance, and on three $50,000 warrants for trespassing, battery, disturbing the peace, being under the influence of a controlled substance, and obstruction of a peace officer.
